Example Gear Review: How to Structure Yours
A template for thorough, trustworthy gear reviews on THE SECOND LIFE.
This is a template. Replace it with a real review once you’ve put a piece of gear through its paces.
The short version
A 2–3 sentence verdict before anything else. Most readers want this first.
What it is
What the product is, who makes it, what it costs, and where you bought it. Include the affiliate link here if applicable — and disclose that it’s an affiliate link.
Why we bought it
What problem you were trying to solve, what alternatives you considered, and why this one won.
How we tested it
Number of trips, conditions, terrain, hours of use. Specifics build trust.
What works
Three to five things this product actually does well in the real world.
What doesn’t
Two to three honest weaknesses. Every product has them. Calling them out is what separates a review from an ad.
Would we buy it again?
Yes / no, and why. Conditions on the answer (“yes if you mostly camp X, no if you primarily Y”) are useful here.
